Enstasy or enstasis, meaning to “stand within.”

Submissions

Submissions are open for our premiere summer issue and will remain open until July 1st.

Enstance is a digitally-presented journal which will showcase original and exciting poetry from emerging authors and artists. Poets who have never been published or who are just beginning to be published elsewhere are strongly encouraged to submit their work.

Enstance seeks previously unpublished, high-quality writing. We are excited to publish offbeat and unconventional poetry that may not be welcome at other journals or magazines. Please refer to the guidelines below for details. We do not publish work from established writers or authors who have more than 2 years of publishing experience.

Please submit your work through our Google Forms page. Enstance will not consider any writing which has been submitted by other means. Writers are only permitted to one (1) active submission. Multiple submissions will not be considered. We will accept simultaneous submissions. However, if work is accepted for another publication, we ask that you inform us at your earliest convenience.

Authors retain all copyright to their work published in Enstance. However, if the work is later republished, we ask that you note its initial publication in Enstance. We request the right, with permission, to use your work for promotional purposes.

Enstance is currently a non-profit publication, and therefore, not a paying market. Please note before submitting that contributors will not be compensated for their work.

Submission Guidelines

POETRY

Length guidelines: 5 poems maximum, preferably 10-60 lines per poem

Please submit no more than 5 poems, up to 10 pages, as a single PDF or Word document. To accommodate our online format, we will not consider poems far below or above this line standard. We will publish poetry utilizing complex arrangement, indentation, and enjambment. Please note, however, that work may not be considered if stylistic choices are unreasonable, as every piece will be carefully typeset, line-by-line, to preserve the artist's intention.

Enstance seeks new voices in poetry. Submit work that you have been apprehensive about submitting elsewhere. Poetry that is able to speak associatively about a given moment or concept is strongly encouraged. We want high-quality work that is able to evoke and emit frequencies of a search, a pursuit, a quest. Keep in mind, Enstance borrows its phrasing from the Greek term "enstasis," and as such, we want poetry which speaks to this attunement, to "standing within."
